Forrest is feeling lost in her family. Her brother, Brian, has a girlfriend, Olivia, who isn't the nicest of people. Forrest is a brainiac and Olivia is a cheerleader. Forrest feels like Olivia is stealing her brother from their family. And it gets worse when Forrest's mother invites Olivia to spend the summer with them at their beach house.
Thirty Sunsets is ultimately about a family, on the verge of falling apart, coming back together over tumultuous circumstances. It's about unlikely friendships, long-standing relationships, and being there for each other through thick and thin.
I feel like many of my students will relate to at least one character in this book and it would be a good addition to my collection.
